The Book Of Awesome Review

Author: GuestPoster

Neil Pasricha understands that it is the small things that make life so pleasurable. Most self improvement literature is full of platitudes and advice that, while it may not be bad, could take years to implement. Change does not happen in an instant. Books that promise instant change are not to be trusted.

Online, when you search for The Book of Awesome Review, you will generally run into book reviewers who are tired of those numbing, derivative self improvement books. Neil Pasricha, the creator of the 1000 Awesome Things website, does not make any promises in his book, but the implication is clear: if you can find enough small reasons to celebrate, you will put together some big wins for yourself. And that is true self improvement.

Change does not happen in huge, sweeping moments where everything suddenly becomes different. It is a series of incremental progressions. Sustainable progress is the best way to be happy. And it is hard not to be happy, even momentarily, when you are experiencing the instants that Pasricha talks about in The Book of Awesome.

For instance, have you ever found a few unexpected coins in your couch? Have you ever turned your pillow over in the middle of the night to find that the other side is wonderfully cool? These are the small moments that the author focuses on. But reviewing The Book of Awesome is not as simple as saying “It’s a list of great things.”

It is a list, but each entry is given its own page. Each page encourages the reader to think about the many good things in the own lives, and to create their own entries that could fit into a later edition of their own Awesome Book. Pasricha suggests that self-scrutiny and awareness are key to lives of contentment and joy. Seeking the next euphoria might be too difficult–euphoria can’t be a constant. But seeking the next small happiness is easy and it encourages us to pay attention, rather than worrying about the next problem.
