Why dads love terry nappies
Sunday, August 29th, 2010
Modern dads like to do nappy changes. Especially if the baby is breastfed, nappy changes are one of the things that dad can do for his newborn baby and most dads treasure that opportunity. It’s fun for dads to bond with baby by making eye contact, smiling, talking to baby and playing that game that all dads love which is blowing raspberries on baby’s tummy!
Good on all dads who change their baby’s nappy. Thankfully these days dads are hands-on with their infants and they start to bond with their babies rather than wait until the kids are old enough to play sport or read books, like they used to in olden days!
So we come to why dads love terry nappies. Well, disposable nappies ARE the norm these days, but it doesn’t need to be so. Especially when they come in so many different brands, sometimes dads can get confused about how each brand works. They often fasten in different ways and dads, usually doing less nappy changes per day than mum, can get a bit bewildered by the different kinds of nappy fastenings and sizes.
Enter the terry nappy. Terries are a one size fits all nappy which can be folded into shape to fit anything from a premature newborn to a chunky walking toddler who is toilet training. Dads usually enjoy learning to do the different terry nappy folds and they have something they can be proud of, which is a great boost for dads who probably don’t get as much time with baby and thus relish the chance to have more opportunities to shine as a parent.
Not to mention that dads love terry nappies because they are cheap! The most they will cost you could be a few hundred dollars, which would buy you quality or even organic terry nappies. Compare with the cost of using disposables at thousands per child, and your terries, which will last two or three children from birth to potty training, are looking very good indeed!
