Sleep, Mystery, and Psychic Dreams
Friday, August 20th, 2010
In the words of an immortal bard, we sleep that we may dream, and what do those nightly delights portend? Are they only things of long ago, or can they indeed be visions of times to come? Is there really something akin to psychic dreams, or is it all a delusion?
These questions are surely fun to play with, but perhaps dreams run far deeper than something to merely have fun with. Of course, suffering a truly horrific nightmare is no fun at all, nor are many of the disturbing images that our minds can stir up while we slumber.
Still, many have made claims that they can see the future due to what they are seeing behind the wall of sleep. While such claims are notoriously difficult to verify, they always seem to fascinate. The entire world of deciphering dreams is a fascinating one, and has been considered for many long years now.
Some careers have been made in the field, and some of the most notable psychiatrists and psychologist have made tremendous inroads into the human psyche thereby. But telling the future still seems a bit outlandish to most. Still, what are dreams, and why are they so persistent?
Surely you or someone you know has had the sense of déjà vu, or the feeling that you have dreamed what is happening at the moment some time ago. While it is scientifically explained away as a minor glitch in the functioning of the brain, the emotions that it creates can be all too real. The mystery will always remain, or so it seems.
So we sleep and we dream, and we wonder at the wonder of it all. Who is to say that psychic dreams are not as valid a way of seeing as any other? When one understands the illusory screen that hides most of what can be seen it begins to make some eerie sense after all. At any rate, the future awaits, as does a good night’s sleep. Whichever comes first let it be.
