The Unlikely Wedding Centerpiece: Tow Trucks

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I have recently been trailing a wedding planner, in the hopes of broadening my design portfolio and perhaps one day taking on another part time job. It is actually more like an enjoyable hobby, at least until you get into the politics and financial necessities of it all. Acting as this planner’s right hand woman has made me audience to some pretty unusual wedding parties, however. Definitely worthy of going down in party planning history.

The most recent wedding centerpiece this wedding planner had had designed for her clients was incredibly extravagant. A large, circular mirror formed the base of the centerpiece. On the mirrors were piled numerous, shiny black and red motor vehicles. I repeat. Motor vehicles. Red sports cars, black motorcycles, black jeeps, red SUV’s, even a hip and modern version of tow trucks. Tossed around the car pile were individually wrapped chocolates, both milk and dark. A thin stemmed glass vase rose from the center of the car pile, overflowing with white roses whose petals dangled nearly a foot above the surprising centerpiece.

Obviously, the couple had valid personal reasons for choosing such a striking centerpiece. I did not ask them about it. What I did do, however, is give tremendous credit to the wedding planner. It requires a lot of creativity and flexibility to make such a piece look wedding worthy. Her portfolio must contain dozens of similarly unusual party planning demands. There must be endless possibilities, beyond the typical white, yellow, and burgundy flower arrangements.

When you’re a wedding planner, your first and foremost priority is to make the bridal couple happy. Every couple will have different needs and wants, and it’s not always a simple matter to make sure that you have met them all. Especially with something like this. But an expert wedding planner will make sure that not only does the couple get what they want, but that it’s a stunning rendition as well.

Pet insurance tips and tricks to getting a cheaper quote

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

We all want to get a cheaper quote on our pet insurance policy for our furry friends. Having a good policy could mean saving lots of cash in the long run, because if you’re animal does become ill and needs treatment for an illness of accident if you do not have insurance it could cost you a small fortune in vet bills to get your pet on the road to recovery.

Try to make sure that you buy life long pet insurance cover as this is by fare the best cover option, although it is the most expensive. It will pay out for treatment up to a particular value every year and for as long as your animal does need any treatment.

Make the effort by searching around on the web and visiting many of the top pet insurer’s websites and comparing your requirements. Don’t forget to compare like-for-like levels of cover and excess. Not all insurance policies are the same. Always make sure the pet insurance policy you do decide to buy is governed by the FSA. Then you know that they are a reputable insurance company. Marks and Spencer pet insurance quotes are a very good place to start looking for a good policy.

Think about maybe increasing the policy excess, this is where you agree to contribute an amount of money towards every time you make a claim. This amount can be between twenty five pounds and seventy pounds, so be careful because although the insurance company maybe offering a really cheap premium for your dog or cat it may be because your excess is really high and if that is the case when you do claim you’ll need to find this amount of money to pay to the insurer.

When you first buy your pet you should start looking around for a quality pet insurance policy, because when you insure it from an early age the premium is always a lot cheaper than if you where to insurance from an older age. Some companies will not even insurance some pets after a certain age; usually if they are aged over eight.

Curing Cat Allergies

Friday, January 8th, 2010

When newborn kittens curl up into your lap and purr, snuggling close to you, there is nothing in the world quite like it. Sadly, many of us are unable to enjoy this simple pleasure because someone in our home suffers from cat allergies. While you may think that this means that you will never be able to have a cat of your very own, it doesn’t necessarily have to be so. There are different methods available that reduce the unpleasant symptoms of cat allergies,

The first line of defense against cat allergies is total cleanliness. You need to keep your home as clean as you can possibly make it. The allergens in cat saliva are constantly being shed, so this is going to be a pretty consistent battle plan. It includes regular vacuuming with a HEPA air filtration vacuum to remove as many of those allergens as possible, dusting, and laundry. Every few months or so, you may want to steam vapor clean your carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.

Medical science has provided us with antihistamines, which can be very effective against not only cat allergies, but allergies of all kinds. They are available both over the counter and, if your allergies are particularly bad, by prescription. If you are pregnant, have any sort of major illness, or already take prescriptions, be sure to consult your doctor before you start taking them.

Another useful tactic, though a somewhat more drastic one, would be removing your carpets. The allergies that cause cat allergies can quickly build up beneath the carpets and cause problems. If you have hardwood floors beneath your carpets, this may be a perfectly viable option for you, but the same is not true if you only have concrete foundation.

If nothing else works, you may be relegated to having to keep your new cat outside in order to keep your allergies in check. This is, however, really only an option if you live in a temperate climate and live in a fairly rural area. There are downsides to this option, however, as the rather limited contact you are likely to have with the cat will prevent it from really bonding to you, making you little more than a source of food.

Everyone’s body responds differently to just about everything in the world, cat allergies included. Something that your friend tells you works perfectly well for them may end up being completely useless for you. Really all you can do to find what works best for you is to experiment until you find what works well for you and your allergies.
