Why dads love terry nappies

Author: GuestPoster

Modern dads like to do nappy changes.  Especially if the baby is breastfed, nappy changes are one of the things that dad can do for his newborn baby and most dads treasure that opportunity.  It’s fun for dads to bond with baby by making eye contact, smiling, talking to baby and playing that game that all dads love which is blowing raspberries on baby’s tummy!

Good on all dads who change their baby’s nappy.  Thankfully these days dads are hands-on with their infants and they start to bond with their babies rather than wait until the kids are old enough to play sport or read books, like they used to in olden days!

So we come to why dads love terry nappies.  Well, disposable nappies ARE the norm these days, but it doesn’t need to be so.  Especially when they come in so many different brands, sometimes dads can get confused about how each brand works.  They often fasten in different ways and dads, usually doing less nappy changes per day than mum, can get a bit bewildered by the different kinds of nappy fastenings and sizes.

Enter the terry nappy.  Terries are a one size fits all nappy which can be folded into shape to fit anything from a premature newborn to a chunky walking toddler who is toilet training.  Dads usually enjoy learning to do the different terry nappy folds and they have something they can be proud of, which is a great boost for dads who probably don’t get as much time with baby and thus relish the chance to have more opportunities to shine as a parent.

Not to mention that dads love terry nappies because they are cheap!  The most they will cost you could be a few hundred dollars, which would buy you quality or even organic terry nappies.  Compare with the cost of using disposables at thousands per child, and your terries, which will last two or three children from birth to potty training, are looking very good indeed!

How to Choose Makeup Shades

Author: GuestPoster

With hundreds of makeup shades to choose from, deciding what to wear can be confusing. Here are a few makeup tips to get you started.

Examine your own features, what color are your eyes, skin, and hair? The answer to these will determine the right palette for you.

Most makeup companies divide their shades into warm, cool, or neutral (colors that look good on everyone). This actually makes your job easier when deciding on a makeup shade.

Warm:

If you’re warm, your hair will be a golden or dark blonde, red, brown, or black. Skin is usually medium to dark, or light with yellow undertones. Eyes are brown or have brown undertones in them, such as hazel or warm gray.

Shades: For eye-shadow, think earth tones. Olive green, nut brown, apricot, or turquoise are all good choices. Also, a skin dust in gold or bronze will really make you glow. Lipstick choices can include beige, brick red, coral, and hot pink.

Cool:

Cool tones are known for their high contrast features. Their skin is usually pale or with a rosy undertone, and hair can be light blonde, dark-brown, and even black. Eyes will be brighter shades of green, blue, or gray.

Shades: For eye-shadow, think jewel tones. Emerald greens, amethyst purples, and icy sapphire blues all qualify, as well as shades of pearl and silver. Lipsticks can include ruby, ice pink, mauve, and plum.

When in doubt, search the swatches that fall under your category or consult a makeup representative. Most makeup counters have professional makeup artists on hand who can help you out – whether it’s a shade match, a consultation or quick makeup tutorials. You can usually schedule a complimentary make over or cosmetics consultation during which you can be matched to an exact shade of foundation suitable for your skin tone and texture. Overall, it’s definitely best to have a makeup artist help you in person when choosing foundation and powder shades. With other products like eyeshadows and lip colors, you can usually determine which shades will look best on you without having to consult a makeup artist.

How to Look Tall and Skinny

Author: GuestPoster

The quickest way to look tall and skinny is to wear all black with stilettos. But we want to have more fun with our wardrobe than that. There are plenty of ways to look skinny without going goth and without killing your ankles with stilettos every day. Here are a few simple tips. The basic tips can be broken down into color, shapes and lines, and accessories.

When you are choosing color, you want to go for monochromatic as much as possible. The pantyhose should be the same hue as the skirt and the shoe if at all possible. To keep from boring yourself with this look, use varied textures. Also, the color does not have to be black, although sometimes it can be.

Shapes and lines are made by colors and patterns and the structure of garments. The objective here is to create vertical lines. An unbuttoned cardigan will make vertical lines right where you need them, through your waist. If any of your garments are striped, wear vertical and not horizontal lines. Also, your skirts should not be wider than they are long, or else they will give you a puffy look like you are wearing womens snow pants. However, you do not want all of your pieces to be long. This will make you look droopy. You want a mix of long and short pieces.

There are several things that you should and shouldn’t do when it comes to accessories. First, you want to avoid belts and chokers, which will add horizontal lines. Horizontal line automatically make you shorter. Choose long necklaces. Tie your scarves so that the end dangle, creating another vertical line. Avoid light colored hats, like a pink hat, which will draw a vertical line across the top of your head.

Finally, the easiest way to look tall and skinny is to wear high heels. You want the to be at least an inch. Keep in mind that the taller the heel, the greater the effect, so go as high as you are comfortable with.
